Playing a Link:

Links are any individual with the ability to tap into the natural Kori reserves of their body to produce incredible effects. While most individuals are born this way, there are many accounts of those who spontaneously developed abilities later in life. The Ori are nearly all proficient Links, to some degree.

Links are common, and the styles of Kori manifestation are nearly limitless. Linked individuals are innate, tangible manifestations of Kori energy in living beings and that energy’s ability to influence the natural world. While Psionics harness Kori’s influence over the mind using the mind and Psiologists explore the ability of rote and research to control the effects of Kori on the body, Links tap into natural willpower and self discipline to evoke inherent talents. The Kori power Links exhibit can connect to the inherent Kori of others’ physiology, conferring benefits and detriments, accordingly.

Because Links can truly be anyone, they come from all walks of life and follow any number of career paths. An individual’s specific powers often influence their future occupation and hobbies, accordingly. The Shape Material power could lead to a career as a miner, Environmental Protection could assist in dangerous emergency situations, and Speed could make you an excellent courier!

Trappings:

Kori is a volatile substance and power source, and expresses itself through the medium channeling it. Every Link has their own personality and approach to applying this tool. The golden rule for Linked trappings is that they represent physical expressions of Kori: bolts of lightning, swarms of insects, flashes of light, piercing sounds, translucent skin, energy fields, and slumber-inducing spores are all good examples. Linked powers do not affect the mind

Linked Edges:

Natural Kori Augment:

Requirements: Seasoned, Arcane Background (Linked) or Arcane Background (Psiology), Spirit d8+ or Vigor d8+

The individual creates a permanent, physical manifestation of Kori within their own body. This creation gives a bonus identical to any piece of Cyberware equal to Strain 2 or less (Science Fiction Companion, pg. 30).

The specifics of how the augment provides the bonus in question is up to the player, as long as it remains a physical manifestation with physical effects.

This Edge can be taken only once per character advancement rank.

Setting Specific Powers:

Shape Material

Rank: Novice

Power Points: 1

Range: Smarts x 2

Duration: 5

Trappings: Shaping and controlling a physical substance through the use of Kori. When this power is taken, choose one of the following material types for use with the power: Air, Earth/Stone, Force or Solid Light, Metal, Plant, Water. This power can be taken multiple times for multiple types.

Shaping a material allows the user intrinsic control of the substance, as long as it is non-living. The material can be controlled with a Strength of d6, or d8 with a raise. The material must exist within the environment.

Shaped Tools: A caster can wield tools (including weapons) with Shape Material as an action. Use the caster’s relevant skill when attacking in this way (not their arcane skill).

Modifiers:

Strength (+1): The power grants control with a Strength of d8, or d10 with a raise.

Great Strength (+2) (Seasoned): The power grants control with a Strength of d10, or d12 with a raise.
